Alternatives to Reston Town Center businesses - with Free Parking!

Paid parking is coming to Reston Town Center!

Bummer. To me, it's not really Reston if I have to pay a fee to go to my own local favorite spots.

But never fear. There are many great businesses in Reston where parking is free. Here is a list of businesses in RTC, and alternatives where you can park for free.

My hope is that Reston flourishes as a place where we all belong, we all move freely about (so to speak) and everyone is welcome without payment. And I've been here for 10 years finding the best local businesses, so I'm putting together a list of local, buisinesses that are great, have free parking, and will help keep Reston Reston!

Just restaurants for now, but I'll add more soon. If you have suggestions please enter: RTC business, alternative, website, and quick info in the comments below.

RTC BusinesscategoryAlternativesReviews and notes
Clydes restaurant Gregorios
gregoriostrattoria.com
Gregorios is casual dining Italian, and pretty good. Reasonable prices, perhaps 1 notch below Clydes, but also a little cheaper.
Busara restaurant Three Thai Sushi
http://threethaisushiherndon.com
Great Thai place with Sushi. Friendly staff, unusually good food for a lower-priced place. Sushi is good too (though I stick to cooked items most of the time in all Sushi places).
Busara restaurant Hibiscus Thai
http://hibiscusthaicuisine.com
Great Thai place with a large, cool aquarium in the dining room. Beautiful place and quite good food.
Jacksons restaurant Red's Table
http://redstableva.com/
Red's Table is the newest and one of the best restaurants in Reston. Local owners and a real commitment to fine food. A notch above Jacksons, great, fun bar area.
Uncle Julios restaurant Anitas (Herndon Location on Elden)
http://www.allmenus.com/va/dranesville/24402-anitas/menu/
Anitas is the real deal, with good food, good prices, margaritas, and locals in attendance.
Pitango restaurant Baskin Robbins (Northpoint center up Reston Parkway) Good ice cream next to Sweet Frog fro-yo - go to both for the best of both worlds.
Pitango restaurant Sweet Frog (Northpoint center up Reston Parkway) Frozen Yogurt with free samples near Baskin Robbins - go to both for the best of both worlds.
World of Beer restaurant Jimmy's Old Town Tavern
http://www.jottnew.com/
Jimmy's is the last "neighborhood tavern" kind of place in the area now that Lakeside in South Lakes has closed and been replaced by Red's Table. Great food even though it's as much bar as restaurant and very lively, and you might not expect it.<
Barcelona restaurant Vinifera
http://www.viniferabistro.com/
Vinifera may be the best restaurant in Reston, though a notch up in both quality and price from Barcelona. It's an innovative and a happening joint. Small plates or main dishes - and the wine is excellent and available in many sizes if you want to tase a few of them. And.... Free Parking!!
Bartaco restaurant Vinifera
http://www.viniferabistro.com/
This is a hard one since most taco/Latin places are more casual than Bartaco. But Vinifera may be the best restaurant in Reston, and is more expensive than Bartaco. But it's innovative and a happening joint, like Bartaco. And.... Free Parking!!
Bartaco restaurant Not Your Average Joes
http://www.notyouraveragejoes.com/reston/
Just a couple blocks up the road in the North section of RTC (with free parking!). Sort of a casual dining place but very new, and when I had an Ahi Tuna dish there a week ago, it was extraordinary. Casual dining prices with top-end quality.
Panera restaurant There's another Panera up the road on Elden next to the K-Mart shopping center.
Panera restaurant Le Madeline Technically still in RTC, but a block North in the free parking part. Great food, good coffee, and baked goods. And a fireplace!
